Who is like our God ?
Scripture
”For who in all of heaven can compare with the Lord? What mightiest angel is anything like the Lord? The highest angelic powers stand in awe of God. He is far more awesome than all who surround His throne. O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies! Where is there anyone as mighty as You, O Lord? You are entirely faithful.” Psalms 89:6-8
Observation
This is a passage that exalts God and His mighty attributes. It is very important that we know and believe who God truly is . The statement “who can be compared to the Lord” is a rhetorical one. No one can be compared to God. It puts things into perspective because if no one can be compared to God why do we fear the enemy ? Why do we doubt God’s promises ? Why do we cherish and idolise other things and people more than Him ? It shows how the enemy has a lot of us deceived. Satan we know was once an angel (Ezekiel 28:16) and this scripture we are looking at today lets us know even the highest of angelic powers have reverence for God . Why then as Christians do we not have reverence for God ? We serve a God that is mighty and faithful, a God that will never leave us nor forsake even when it gets tough . Nothing can separate His love for us (Romans 8:38-39) and that shows how faithful He is.
Application
It’s about time we start getting to know God for who He truly is and to start believing in Him. If those who are in close proximity to God have fear and reverence for God, it’s a charge for us as children of God to have reverence for Him. It’s important to live a life of reverence and awe of our God. This looks like living a life completely in alignment to His will. If truly no one can be compared to Him then we need to place Him in the highest position and priority in our lives. We shouldn’t love or revere anything or anyone more than God. Whenever there is a mountain or any situation that makes you feel overwhelmed, remember no one is as mighty as God. He’s the one you should instinctively run to at all times. Whenever we’re faced with adversity we need to simply ask “the Lord is on my side so I will not fear, what can man do to me ? (Psalms 118:6)
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank You for Your word today. May You reveal who You are to me. Grant me a revelation of who You are that I may believe in You and Your abilities wholeheartedly. Help me to live a life of reverence and obedience to Your will in my life , in Jesus name I pray amen.
