This spirit called fear..
Scripture
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” - 2 Timothy 1:7
Observation
The root meaning of word “Fear” translates to “fear, timidity and cowardice “. Fear is being scared or worried about an existing or potential danger. Timidity is being shy or easily scared and cowardice is refusing to face the fear. This scripture allows us to know that fear is a spirit. There isn’t a grey area when it comes to “spirits” , it’s either a spirit is of the kingdom of God or of the kingdom of darkness.
“For God has not given us“..This phrase affirms that just as God gives beneficial gifts (James 1:17) the enemy is also seeking to hand out or give destructive gifts including fear.
Where there is fear, there’s the absence of power. Why ? Power is the ability to do , influence or cause change regardless of how hard a situation is but fear cripples you to execute anything power can allow you to do. Where there is fear, there is also the absence of love. Love is what allows for you to be patient , kind, bear with others etc (1 Corinthians 13:4) but if you have the fear of being hurt or rejected you consciously or unconsciously put up a wall which doesn’t allow you to exude love. Fear cripples your mind due to the uncertainty of an outcome preventing you from having a sound mind.
Application
Anything that can be given can also be returned back, meaning if fear has been given to you , in a place of prayer you can renounce it, denounce it and come out of agreement with it. Similarly if God gives power, love and a sound mind it can be requested for and you can come into an agreement with it. Whenever we’re crippled to do anything , not loving properly or having a sound mind , it’s important to do an analysis of what we’re really afraid of. Fear will be the root issue and until that is dealt with, you can’t progress in the area you’re struggling with. You can’t control what the enemy decides to “give” you but you can decide to accept it or not. Whenever things makes us uncomfortable or gives a hint of fear it’s important to acknowledge it and bring it before God. Pretending like it’s non existence is not the right way to go about it. It’s important to also remind God of His word. If truly He says nothing shall by any means harm you (Luke 10:19) then you have nothing to fear. Why ? We know God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19)
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank You for Your word today . Where I’ve come into agreement with fear I repent and I renounce fear in Jesus name . I come into agreement with Your love , power and a sound mind in Jesus name I pray amen.
