The Lord examines our heart.

The Lord examines our heart.

Scripture

“People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives. Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:2-3

Observation

Just because you have a reason to justify a path you take or a decision you make doesn’t mean it’s the right or best thing to do before God. I’m reminded of the scripture that says the heart is deceitful, who can really know it ?(Jeremiah 17:9). As humans we have the tendency of convincing ourselves that what we’re doing is the best or right thing to do. Being pure means free from corruption or contamination. God is holy and if anyone can be in the best position to judge if our actions are pure, it’ll be Him. It’s safe to say as humans we may misjudge why we take certain actions or decisions. What stands out to me in this scripture also is the surety that our plans will succeed when we commit them to God. This is because when we place our plans before God and it’s not the best , He will prompt us to move things around and will ultimately lead us to success if we obey Him.

Application

Knowing this, it’s always important to commit whatever we’re about to do to into the hands of the Lord. It’s always important to not just rely on our own wisdom or intellect. It’s important to bring to the Lord all we intend to do. We need to be ready to change , adjust or discard our plans completely once we bring God in . He knows what’s best for us. His thoughts and His ways are not ours (Isaiah 55:8). Going back to God to ask Him to examine your heart is what will reveal ulterior motives . For instance you may want to venture into a business but is that God’s will for you or are you venturing into that business because you envy that which a friend of yours may have ?

Prayer

Heavenly Father examine my thoughts and ways . Where I have fallen short bring me into a place of alignment. I bring everything I do into Your hands, rearrange my life to fall in line with Your will in Jesus name I pray amen .
