Praise the Lord ALWAYS.
Scripture
“Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol Him, all you peoples. For great is His love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord.”Psalms 117:1-2
Observation
This is a scripture that focuses on God and not us. It’s a charge for us to praise and extol the Lord. Before we deep dive into what this means, we are not only told to do so but we are given a reason to do so. This proves that God is indeed worthy of this charge. To praise God means to make known or shine light on His deeds, boast about His character, nature and His attributes. God’s love for instance caused Him to give His one and only son to us so we have a shot at redemption and eternal life (John 3:16) . This reason alone is enough to praise God all the days of our lives. One thing that stands out to me in this scripture is not only does God choose to love and be steadfast towards us but His character endures. Meaning through all seasons, He is worthy of our praise .
Application
As humans, it is very easy to always focus on what is not going on well in our lives. It’s easy to resort to moaning and complaining when we feel our needs and wants have not been met yet. However, it’s important to always have a heart of gratitude. It’s important to remember we’re living in answered prayers from weeks, months and years ago. Taking moments to pause and reflect on the love and goodness of God towards us and how He’s never failed us will keep us in a disposition of praise always . Praising God can be done in prayers , to others , in a form of a testimony, through singing, poems amongst many others.
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank You for being a good Father. Thank You for Your love, goodness and faithfulness towards me. Forgive me where I have been ungrateful. You are worthy of my praise so help me to always remember this in Jesus Name I pray amen.
