Our Heavenly Shepherd.

Our Heavenly Shepherd.

Scripture

“The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.“ Psalms 32:8

Observation

In chapter 32 of Psalms I observed that David was a man that would acknowledge his sinful nature and confess them to the Lord. Not only this but he also acknowledges his dependency on God. It’s a very profound heart posture to have as a child of God. Why ? It welcomes the intervention of God in our lives. Through out scripture we see God being referred to as a shepherd (Psalms 23:1) and this scripture we’re looking at today reaffirms His role as one. Whenever we see the Lord Himself speaking, we shouldn’t take it with a pinch of salt. This is because He’s not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19). God’s statement in the scripture lets us know it’s not His will for us to do trial and error. He most certainly wants us to be steered in the right direction during the course of our life here on earth. “The best pathway“ for your life also suggests there’s many pathways but it’s our choice if we want to be led on the best one. This scripture also reaffirms that indeed we have free will but it’s left with us if we want to be guided and advised by God.

Application

Personally , why would I not want to be advised and guided by the One who knows, sees and hears it ALL ? Dare to believe God and have faith in Him. You can certainly put all your eggs in God’s basket. We should make it a habit to invite God into our everyday mundane activities and decision making. He’s not just a God of “Sunday “ but a God that wants to help you to make the right friends, take the right driving route to avoid an accident, nudge you to smile to someone because you’ll make their day amongst many others. For you to be guided and advised by someone you need to have a teachable spirit. Meaning there are moments you may think or fully be convinced you’re on the right track but God may disrupt it to give His input. How willing are you take what He’s saying on board ? After all we have free will so you can reject His guidance and advice through pride. We should always be ready to let a course go if God says otherwise.

Prayer

Heavenly Shepherd thank You for loving and taking interest in Me. Thank You for Your wisdom, guidance , counsel and instructions. Help me to be sensitive to Your voice and nudgings that I may always take the right course in Jesus name I pray Amen.
