Lose appetite for the things of this world.

”If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3
Observation
One thing I love about the death of Christ is that when He died, He didn’t die alone , our sinful self also died with Him . This also means we resurrected with Him as new creatures. Knowing this, God requires us to think, feel and behave differently now. He requires us to set our minds on things which are above not on the earth . The reality is though we’re here on earth the Bible makes it clear we’re not of the world (John 17:16). The things here in the world have the tendency of producing death, all the things we thirst for here on earth when they become idols in our mind and heart only breeds death. There’s a reason why the Bible would say the LOVE of money is the root of all evil for instance (1 Timothy 6:10) . Whenever we set our mind on something there’s a force of determination that drives us and that can be very dangerous when it comes to worldly matters and achievements. Money , fame , acquiring of property etc. Who we truly are now that we are resurrected can ONLY be explored in Christ Jesus (John 14:6)
Application
If we set our mind on Christ , we naturally will set our mind on things above because that’s where Christ is as our scripture lets us know. Now, it’s not a bad thing to want to do well for ourselves but we need to make sure our main priority is God, His kingdom being established on earth and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). This is why we are placed here on earth. Whenever the enemy tries to accuse us, or remind us of a past we once had, we have legal grounds to call him a liar . Reason being that person no longer exists but died with Christ. We also don’t combat his lies with our feelings but we only do so with the word of God. So as a child of God you need to be aware of what the word of God says about you and your current situation or challenges . You need to be aware of what your Father says about you because Him alone is truth. If we truly don’t want to seek after fleshly or earthly things then we need to occupy ourselves by seeking after godly things. If you also decide to remain neutral best believe the prince of this world will find work for you to do (1 Peter 5:8).
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank You for Your word today. May Your word hide in my heart. Help me to seek after the things which are above. Help me to lose appetite for the things of this world in Jesus name I pray amen.
