Let go off your power and might and watch Ruach step in.

Let go off your power and might and watch Ruach step in.

Scripture

"So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts." - Zechariah 4:6

Observation

Whenever we see the Lord speaking in scripture it is very important to pay attention to it because the word of the Lord will not return to Him void and He’s not a man who lies or changes His mind (Numbers 23:19) . His word always requires faith from the receiver . Faith is the unseen. It’s easy to rely on your own power and might because you see it or feel it. You see the fruits or results whenever you put in effort to do anything. You can boldly say you passed a test for instance because you studied for it. Our own strength is somewhat measurable. However when the Lord is telling us to give up our strength it becomes hard because He’s calling us into the unknown. He’s calling us to a state of brokenness and total surrender .

Ironically those that wait on the Lord are the ones who have their strength renewed. (Isaiah 40:31) You would think those that are relying on their own strength should have their strength renewed right ? After all they are using up their strength.

The moment you give up all you know to do and just set your gaze on Jesus , the author and the finisher of our faith that’s when we give Him the opportunity to step in and intervene. The statement in this scripture was made by the “Lord of hosts” it’s imperative we pay attention to why the Lord decided to use this particular attribute of His when He sent His message to Zerubbabel. Because “Lord of Hosts” translates to “war”, “warfare”, “Lord of armies” so He’s letting us be aware that He’s the perfect fit for this, for all our battles.

Application

How do I release power and might and allow the Lord of Hosts to take over ? It looks like still trusting the Lord even when you don’t see results or fruits yet . It looks like living a life where you completely surrender to what He’s calling you to do at every season in your life . It is truly at that point we invite Ruach (The spirit of God) The same Spirit that partnered in creation (Genesis 1:2) , the same Holy Spirit that partnered in the Red Sea miracle for the Israelites (Exodus 15:10) the list goes on and on . Relying on the Lord wholeheartedly is an act of faith and that’s why scripture will tell us if we have faith as small as a mustard seed we will tell this mountain (i.e. any obstacle) in our life to move and it will move ( Matthew 17:20) . Notice how we don't move the obstacles by our strength or might but by faith in God!

It’s important we do not wallow and be discouraged in what we deem as “battles” . We should look at battles as an opportunity for the Spirit of God to be made manifest in our lives. That’s how you truly win. Rejoice and be glad always you’re not fighting a losing battle. Do you not know who your God is ? He’s a man of war (Exodus 15:3)

Prayer

Heavenly Father thank You for Your word today . I repent for relying on my own strength and might instead of totally surrendering to you . I give way for You to do what only You can do best. To do wondrous , above and beyond what I could think or even imagine. I ask that your Holy Spirit takes over in my life in Jesus Name I pray Amen
