Jesus is the ONLY way, truth and life.
Scripture
“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.”John 14:6
Observation
Prior to this scripture, Jesus was telling His disciples to take heart because He wasn’t abandoning us. He had a goal and that was to prepare a place so when He comes back again , He can receive us. He was preparing a place of no pain and turmoil like the world offers but of joy and everlasting peace (Romans 14:17)
A disciple out of curiosity asked Jesus how to get to this place or even where this place was. That is how this scripture John 14:6 was birthed.
Here, Jesus was answering the question. It’s important to pay attention to these words Jesus said because it answers a lot of questions or challenges we may possibly face in our lives. Jesus said “He is the way” and after searching up the root meaning of this word “way”, aside it meaning a “travel way”, it also meant a metaphor of “course of conduct” that is, how we choose to think, feel and decide. Now let’s look at “truth”.. Whenever we’re seeking truth in any matter (eg moral, ethical, spiritual etc ) , the one place that’ll never lie to us is the Bible, the word of God. Jesus is the word (John 1:1) and it’s also through this same word we can get deliverance (John 8:32)
Ultimately if we truly want to make it to heaven there’s no other way than Jesus . No other god in any other religion but Jesus, the ONLY way. The fullness of life is also hidden in God. Isn’t it ironic when people give themselves over to alcohol , drugs, lust etc they also testify that there’s still a void in them? It is only Jesus that can fill this void because He is the fullness of life. Finally, it’s safe to say you’ve not accessed the God of the universe, the creator of all things if you didn’t do so through Jesus.
Application
First and foremost we need to always check to see if our thoughts are reflecting Jesus, are you meditating on the things of this world or are you setting your mind on things above ? Are your emotions reflecting that you have a God who loves you recklessly, has good plans for you and will never leave you ? Or are you subscribed to the feelings of fear , anxiety , worry ? All these things of which counter Jesus. Are you also making choices that reflect that indeed you’re on the path Jesus has laid out for you or are you living life according to your own terms and desires ? Do we seek and rely on “truth” for all matters from the opinions of people on social media , friends , families , or do we tally it with the Bible ? Reading and studying your Bible is a non negotiable if not you will be blown by demonic doctrines that appear as truth (Ephesians 4:14). That’s why the Bible would also “there’s a way that seems right but the end is death”(Proverbs 14:12) it’s important to give your life to Jesus Christ that is the only way we can truly make it to heaven, the place God has designed for us. He’s the only way to God the Father.
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank You for Your word. I believe in my heart that You came to die for me and have been raised from the dead to cleanse my sins. I confess with My mouth that You Jesus are Lord. Thank You for washing away my sins . In Jesus Name I pray Amen.
