If God be for you, what can mere man do to you?
Scripture
”Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”Luke 10:19
Observation
This scripture was birthed from Jesus talking to His disciples. Prior to this scripture, He had sent 70 disciples out in His name to go into different cities to harvest souls into His kingdom . He sent them in His name so they could cast out demons , heal the sick , and preach about the kingdom of God . One thing I noticed about this scripture is the fact that He didn’t pick and choose which power He’s given us authority over but He said “ALL power”.
Now choosing to believe, walk in and reinforce this authority is another story altogether . For example, a country can call you into the office of an armed policeman, as to if you choose to believe in yourself and show up for duty or use your weapon is up to you . In addition to this, scripture lets us know nothing that the enemy sends our way will harm us provided we walk in authority. Finally, for someone to give you authority, they themselves must first have it and we know Jesus does (Matthew 28:18).
Application
This scripture was a response to His disciples when they came back and gave an account that indeed the power and authority Jesus gave them was at play on their missions. His disciples being surprised that the authority which had been given was working makes me wonder if they initially lacked faith when Jesus sent them out on a mission ? Thinking about this, the disciples themselves hadn’t exuded that kind of power so maybe that could be the reason for lack of faith ? However it insinuates in this kingdom , when God calls us to the work He prepared for us (Ephesians 2:10) , we shouldn’t feel inferior or doubt that we can’t achieve it. God is not a man that He should lie , subsequently if He is saying He has given us authority to trample over all powers of the enemy then that’s the truth.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your word today. Help me to have a revelation and to walk in the power and authority You’ve given me over the enemy in Jesus name amen .
