God will be exalted amongst all nations.
Scripture
"He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” - Psalm 46:10
Observation
For scripture to say “be still” suggests there was movement . From what comes after this command it’s safe to assume what that movement was . Scripture says “and know that I am God” meaning whatever movement that was being made, was not pointing to the fact that the knowledge of God and what He embodies was known. Bringing this to every day life , sometimes we go on ahead to make decisions and we do it out of a place of fear or even self reliant on our own abilities. That goes on to show we truly do not know the God we serve . Especially when God has given us a promise and it is taking a while to manifest . We go on to use our own abilities to allow it manifest . A prime is example is when God promised Sarah a child and she used her own abilities and wisdom to bring forth a child through her maid servant.
We don’t realise that most of the situations we go through as humans is so that the name of the Lord will be exalted and glorified . For instance , If He doesn’t deliver you out of that hole or difficult situation how will you or others in the same situation have faith that He’s a deliverer ?
Application
Whenever we’re looking to God for a promise or for His hands to come into any situation we find ourselves in, it’s very important that we’re not making plan B, C , D etc in case “God doesn’t come through” . This shows lack of faith. God is not a man that He should lie. Being still doesn’t also necessarily mean doing absolutely nothing because the Bible says in James 2:17 that faith without works is dead . Being still and knowing that God is God looks like seeking after God through prayer , His word, tarrying in His presence until He gives you a word. We know the word of the Lord will never fall to the ground nor fail. The more we seek after Him, the more we get to know Him. How can you trust in a God you do not know? And how can you know a God you’re not actively pursuing? It’s also important to share testimonies once you’ve seen God move. This is how His name is exalted. The Bible says there is nothing new under the sun so by this we know others are going through the same things we go through (1 Peter 5:9) . By sharing testimonies not only do others receive faith for themselves but they also exalt the name of the Lord because of what He’s done in our lives and theirs. If we were to all share our testimonies at the appointed time and not worry about “evil eyes” then we wouldn’t be robbing God of His praise and exaltation.
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank You for Your word today. Where I am operating from a place of fear or disbelief in Your abilities and who You are please forgive me. Help me to come into the knowledge of You that I may always rest in You. Create in me a desire to know You and to love You more. In Jesus Name I pray Amen.
