God is not a man that He should lie.
Scripture
God is not a man, so He does not lie. He is not human, so He does not change His mind. Has He ever spoken and failed to act? Has He ever promised and not carried it through? - Numbers 23:19
Observation
The scripture speaks about the nature of God. The first statement says He’s not a man . This to me implies that He’s not limited because mankind is. He doesn’t think the way a man would think neither would He act in a way a man would. It then goes on to say due to this reason He does not lie . Lying is one of the many flaws and sinful nature mankind has . The scripture also goes on to state that He does not change His mind. This is healing to read because sometimes we may find ourselves in positions where people we trusted or looked up to changed their mind on a promise made for instance . The question “Has He ever spoken and failed to act” which follows, gave me the opportunity to reflect on my life . In all honesty there’s yet to be a time He’s spoken and failed to act . It also asks if He’s promised something and not carried through. This confirms that God gives us all words and promises. Some of which are subject to specific individuals, family , churches etc. These statements in the scripture provoke me to think about who God is and His divine nature . They induce feelings of trust and reliance . I feel safe and seen because I know God won’t switch up on me.
Application
I need to see God higher and in a different light as compared to people. Sometimes past experiences can cause trauma and we find ourselves not even opening up to God and trusting that He’ll never leave us , forsake us or lie to us. It’s important to remember His nature is not that of a human. I need to remind myself and believe that every promise or word He has given me will certainly come to past. This includes the ones that seem to be “delaying” in my eyes. I need to trust in His timing. I cannot be double minded if a promise from God will come to past because it suggests I do not know the God I am serving . Even if my reality looks far from what has been said, it’s important to note that He does not change His mind either. It’s important to know all He says is nothing but the truth . I need to rest in this knowledge of God.
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank You for Your word today . Thank You for being a God who does not lie or change His mind. Thank You for being a God I can fully trust and rely on . Thank You for all the promises You’ve given me both personally and the ones I come across in the bible. I come into agreement with who You are and fully submit my mind , heart and soul to You. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
