God is committed to you.
Scripture
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.” - Jeremiah 29:11-12
Observation
This famous scripture surprisingly enough was God’s word that came to His people who were in captivity . If there’s one attribute about God I don’t take for granted, it’s His mercy . I mean while yet we were sinners, He still died for us. We see that same pattern here, while yet His people were made lawful captives, He reassured them of the future that was ahead. What a good God we serve.
Straight away I can see that God has thoughts concerning us. This is intriguing because it shows His commitment towards us. I love that He reaffirms that when we call on Him, it doesn’t end there . It won’t be a monologue but a dialogue. He’s ever ready to answer us. These are not evil thoughts but thoughts of peace , a future and hope. We can rest in this knowledge even when our present circumstances say otherwise.
Application
No matter how deep we may be in bondage or sin , God is always ready to take us into greener pastures. God is waiting for us to call Him. It’s in a place of prayer we get to communicate our needs with the Father . Truth is, you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped . That’s why all though salvation is free, it requires us to still believe in our hearts and profess with our lips (Romans 10:9). You have to call on Him. That also shows your commitment to Him . One of the biggest lie the enemy has made a lot of people believe is the fact that you have to be a “perfect holier than thou Christian” before you can call on God. Meanwhile, God is always ready, for us to come to Him and He encourages this ESPECIALLY when we need Him (Hebrews 4:16). If God is saying to us He will answer us, then it’s very important we don’t treat prayer as a monologue but a dialogue . Some of us go to into prayer to pour our hearts out, straight away leave and go on about our days . It’s important that we dedicate time in our prayer life to just be still and quiet, waiting and expecting Him to speak. God speaks , He has a lot to tell and show us because as we can see , He has thoughts for us . Many of them.
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank You for today. Thank You for being a good God. A God that has good thoughts towards me. A God that is willing to not only listen to me but to also speak to me and show me mighty things I don’t know . Thank You for Your love. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
