Forget the former things.

Forget the former things.

Scripture

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19

Observation

This is a profound scripture because God was speaking to His children prior to this on how they should not fear. He was telling them He was going to deliver them from the hands of the enemy because He loves them and would give up anything or anyone for them (Isaiah 43:4) .

Mirroring this to our everyday life, when we’ve been in positions or cycles where it seems as though nothing has been shifting or changing for a while, it’s easy to not perceive the “new” that God is doing . Why ? You have learned how to live life and embrace the failures. I mean that business has not been working for a while , your family has not been united for a while , you’ve had that chronic illness for a while so yes it’s easy to miss it when God is changing your story. In this scripture,God was reassuring His chosen people (which in this case ,is you and I) that they should not remember nor consider the things of the old. As humans we can be very logical but we serve a miraculous God.How can a road be made in the wilderness? How can a river be made in the desert ? This shows the kind of God we serve.

Application

We should never be complacent or accept situations for what they are. Why ? The whole basis of our Christian faith is believing in what we cannot see, believing in the impossible. One of things that holds us back is looking back at “Egypt” or even “past glory“. Past glory in the sense you think “that’s the best I could have got “. If God is telling you to forget or to let go it means He has something in store for you. This is where faith comes in , it’ll take you walking away or letting go before your eyes can perceive God is doing. My mum always says, “if your hands are full, it’ll take you letting go of the things in your hand to receive what God wants to give you” . This scripture embodies that analogy. Dare to believe again, dare to believe God for the “new” , much more bigger things that seems impossible. Why ? We serve a supernatural God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can think or imagine (Ephesians 3:20)

Prayer

Heavenly Father thank You for Your promise today. I let go of the former and the old . I come into agreement with the new You’re doing in my life . Help me where I am struggling with unbelief in Jesus Name I pray amen.
