Don’t be deceived, you cannot mock the justice of God.

Don’t be deceived, you cannot mock the justice of God.

Scripture

Don’t be misled. you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

Observation

The first prompting in this scripture “Don’t be misled” suggests that unfortunately some of us feel we can outsmart or mock the justice of God. This scripture is a humbling scripture that reminds us that God indeed is our “all knowing just Creator”. It’s very easy as children of God to only focus on the “loving” side of God that we sometimes forget He’s also a judge who administers righteous judgment. He is everywhere and sees everything even the intentions of man (1 Samuel 16:7) .

As humans, we are always planting seeds . This looks like our daily decisions that we make. Decisions about how you choose to live your life whether in truthfulness or not , decisions concerning your finances , your intimacy with God, your character towards others etc. Did a quick google research and the average human makes about 35,000 decisions a day ranging from what socks to wear to major decisions like your career choice.

One thing I did notice in this scripture however is the fact that you may not necessarily reap from where exactly you sowed but you most certainly will reap . We know the flesh has nothing good to offer. If we live a life that pleases our flesh instead of being yielded to Holy Spirit we are bound to reap things like idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarrelling, jealousy, outbursts of anger etc (Galatians 5:20)

Application

Knowing this biblical principle, it’s important to be intentional about how you live your life . We serve a righteous and a just God. We will all receive judgment whether good or bad.

Now a prime example is you may be honouring the poor diligently with your finances with the little you have. While you may not reap specifically in the area of finances, reaping may also look like your children never lacking in their finances and being richly blessed by God because of what you chose to do with your finances. (Psalms 37:25) . Now you have reaped what you sowed just not necessarily WHERE you sowed.

We need to be comfortable with dying to our flesh daily. This looks like even you wake up and you don’t feel like feeding your spirit by reading the Bible , you still choose to read it. Why ? because you know it’ll benefit you in the long run. Now choosing to live a life that pleases God is not going to be a walk in the park. It requires you to be intentional every single day keeping your mind on the prize (Philippians 3:14)

Prayer

Heavenly Father thank You for Your word today. May Your word hide in my heart. Help me daily to make decisions that will not only glorify You but will lead me to everlasting life. Help me to die to my flesh daily in Jesus name I pray amen.
