Dead to sin.
Scripture
”For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.” Romans 6:4
Observation
As children of God it’s important to know the death that Jesus went through was for us. Romans chapter 6 makes it very clear that it wasn’t just Jesus that died but we (our sinful self / our old man) also died . Meaning we are partakers of His death. Due to the fact that Christ died, we were also baptised into His death. it’s important to also remember death was conquered meaning a resurrection happened. So we also have a new life as we’ve also been resurrected. In other words, there’s no sin you can’t overcome. if you’ve conquered death in Jesus then you also have the power to put to death whatever sin that wants to rule over you.
Application
If you don’t believe that indeed you’ve been dead and resurrected, you may have a new life with many amazing possibilities but your mind still thinks you’re in Egypt, your old life . The mind is important because what you think about and come into agreement with is what ultimately becomes your reality (Proverbs 23:7). For instance, if someone believes there will never amount to anything what will make them take active steps to be successful? Nothing! so the truth is they will actually amount to nothing. Another example, if you feel you can never conquer lust, then when lusts keeps knocking on your door you’ll keep opening it. It’s important we rise up and walk in our true identity so God gets the glory. When we rise up , we’re able to take authority here on earth and allow for the kingdom of God to be made manifest. Question is, if you’ve ressurected in a new life how will that person think , feel or act ? You need to intentionally and actively take steps to become that new person. Invite the Holy Spirit to this journey as He is our number one helper (John 14:26).
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for this death and Your revelation. I pray that the mind of Christ Jesus is in me so I can also truly step into my new life. May this revelation hide in my heart so I can always conquer sin in Jesus Name I pray amen.
