Be Still and know that He is God.

Be Still and know that He is God.

Scripture

"And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” - Exodus 14:13-14

Observation

Right after Moses told the people (children of Israel) “do not be afraid” he went on to ask them to stand still. It really had me thinking because how do you tell someone who is anxious or fearful to just stand still ? They were facing something which was evidently traumatic. But his statement came from a revelation that he had of God. He knew the God who brought them out from deep and gruesome bondage in Egypt will be the same God that’ll fight their fears. The root meaning of the word “see” means to “perceive”. This is so profound because even before salvation has fully come we need to have the ability to discern that it is coming . This is truly how we can stand still. This is because of the knowledge of what we know and who we know is about to deliver us from whatever situation oppressing us. Applying this to my life, it makes me realise that all the tough battles I see and experience today, it’s only a matter of time and I will see them no more. Why ? Because the God I’ve decided to put my trust in is a Saviour. I need to find rest and peace in that revelation.

Application

It’s important I keep a track record of the experiences I’ve had with God and His promises in the Bible. Our God, is a Man of war (Exodus 15:3) and I need to surrender all my fears to Him and let Him do what only He can do. That is to bring forth salvation and deliverance . Being still means recognising that it’s not by my power nor my strength but it’s by the spirit of God . It’s knowing that it isn’t about the timelines I’ve given myself to see a situation change but resting in knowing that at the appointed time God will make it happen . Being still is putting my whole trust and faith in God by still praying , seeking His face, worshipping and praising Him even in the midst of the chaos because I recognise He has the final say . Being still is also exercising faith in the abilities of God as my saviour and deliverer. I need to refrain from being fearful and anxious because God is not a man that He should lie.

Prayer

Heavenly Father thank You for today. Thank You for the gift of life. Thank You for being a Saviour. Thank You for hope, deliverance and restoration. Help me to stand still and to see Your salvation. When times get tough help me to look to You as my saviour. Deliver me from the hands of the enemy and do what only You can do in Jesus Name I pray Amen.
