Be fruitful and multiply.
Scripture
“So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” Genesis 1:27-28
Observation
This scripture is a popular scripture regarding the story of creation. It brings things into perspective as to who we are and why we were created by God. First and foremost we can see from this scripture neither of us are a mistake or a mere product of science. Human beings both female and male are created in God’s image. This scripture also reaffirms that there’s only two genders we ought to acknowledge as children of God. Male and female and not any other that society has labelled (ie non-binary, transgender etc ). One thing that stood out to me in this scripture was the order to be “fruitful and multiply”. This wasnt a suggestion but an order.
Now before you can “multiply” anything you need to first have something to multiply right ? This scripture lets us know God first blessed us before He told us to be fruitful and multiply. In a nutshell we have no excuse. We are to steward creation and give satisfying results to God with all He’s blessed us with because when He returns He will ask for an account. (Luke 19:11-27)
Application
Having this knowledge, it automatically scraps subscribing to society’s “beauty standards and gender labels ”. Our confidence should be in the fact that we are all created in God’s image and no one is more superior than anyone by their appearance. No one’s gender from birth was a mistake either. God has blessed us with many foundational things as Christians but how are we utilising them and being fruitful ? The gift of salvation , the Holy Spirit, gifts of the Holy Spirit, these are some of the blessings we have. For instance one can be fruitful with the gift of wisdom by teaching and imparting wisdom and counsel to his fellow brother. Another can also partner with the leadings of the Holy Spirit in their business to be able to multiple their financial gains. It’s Important to list out the graces and gifts in your life and ask yourself, how am I being fruitful with these ?
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank You for creating us in Your own image. Thank You for the blessings You have bestowed upon us. I ask oh Lord You reveal the graces and giftings in My life and how I can be fruitful and multiply them. In Jesus Name I pray amen.
