A sacrifice of thanksgiving.
Scripture
“Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.” Psalms 30:4
Observation
Prior to this scripture, the psalmist “King David” was exalting and extolling God because of His deeds towards Him. When we pray to God and He answers, it’s important to praise Him both secretly and publicly. It’s important to mention what your prayer request was and how He came through. The root meaning of the word “sing” also translates to making music or playing an instrument . Thanksgiving is a response to an event or action . How can you thank God when you don’t intentionally take time out to remember His goodness ? Thanksgiving to God should be our second nature as children of God. Why ? It’s one of the ways we enter into His presence (Psalms 100:4), it’s also an act God expects from us as it shows appreciation , gives glory and praise to God (Luke 17:18). The root meaning of the word “thanksgiving “ also translates to “confessing”. Confession isn’t an act done secretly. Likewise we need to thank God both in our secret place and out in the public to render Him His praise.
Application
Whenever God answers our prayers it’s important that we are not quiet about it.Whether to trusted individuals or the body of Christ at large. Being led by the Holy Spirit , it’s important to give testimonies as it helps the body of Christ also (Revelations 12:11) . Imagine your earthly friend meeting a strong need of yours and you just walk away without acknowledging it. That makes you appear as an ungrateful person. At the very least the average person should be able to utter thanksgiving or sing to God . This scripture is not looking for perfection when singing, so we shouldn’t ever be deterred. For those who can take it up a notch by playing an instrument to exalt God or by making music, it’s important you do. It’s important to make it a habit to take time out to remember the goodness of God in our lives every single day. When you start to name and count the blessings in your life it brings things into perspective and a natural response will be to say “thank You” to God. It’s important we bring to our memory the goodness of God both in our lives and others.

Heavenly Father praise be to Your Holy name . Thank You for Your goodness throughout my life , my family and all things pertaining me. It’s by Your grace and mercy I’m still alive . To You be all the glory and honour forever and ever amen.
